Gaia Wild

In this third book in the Wildlife Rescue series, Jane Ray, high school senior and volunteer at the Urban Wild Rescue Center, learns that a movie is being filmed in her hometown. Featured in the film is Gaia, an elephant that Jane had loved when visiting the zoo as a child. Intrigued by the opportunity to work with the elephant but disturbed by some of what she sees, she and her friends get jobs on the set. While working as an Animal Care Assistant, Jane discovers that the animals are being mistreated. The plot blends mystery, romance, action and social activism for a well-paced and exciting story that spans Jane’s last year in high school. The issues of keeping wild animals in captivity and using them for entertainment are raised in a balanced and thought-provoking manner.

Caution: There are several graphic accounts of animal abuse and violence between human characters that may bother sensitive readers.
